The Basque Circular Summit, the largest circular economy event in Southern Europe, will be held again in 2025. The event will take place on 2, 3, and 4 April 2025 at the Euskalduna Conference Centre in Bilbao, and will bring together professionals and specialists from the industrial and environmental fields from all over the continent to analyse the implications that the transition to a circular model is having on the European Union.

Organised by the Basque Government’s Public Company for Environmental Management, Ihobe, the aim of the event will be to analyse the different challenges and opportunities that the circular economy offers companies and the entire Basque socio-economic fabric, and to highlight the work that has been carried out making it into an inspiring element for new actions. It will also provide attendees with the ideal setting to discuss business opportunities and improve business competitiveness that this new economic model offers.

The new edition of the Basque Circular Summit will serve to show the Basque Government’s commitment to supporting companies and all socio-economic agents in the Basque Country in this necessary transition towards a new circular economy model. It will also analyse the advances in legal and regulatory development, as well as the new developments that have taken place in recent years in the field of the circular economy within the framework of the European Green Deal.

Basque companies are already spearheading the change, so the Basque Circular Summit will also be the space to share their work and results in circular economy, both individually and through the public-private collaboration initiatives launched in the framework of the Basque Country Circular Economy Strategy 2030: Basque Ecodesign Center, PYME Circular Euskadi, and Basque Ecoinnovation. Furthermore, thanks to the event’s international projection, it will be an opportunity to bring the Basque Country to the forefront as a spearhead in the application of circular economy principles.

To continue promoting the transition and the commitment to circularity, the event will provide criteria and keys for action both to Basque companies and to public institutions and local entities, academia, and citizens.

New edition after the success in 2022

The Basque Circular Summit held its previous edition in November 2022, in Ficoba (Irun), with the collaboration of the SPRI Group. More than 800 professionals and 350 companies from multiple industrial sectors met there to learn about new, more sustainable and competitive business models.

The event made the Basque Country a European circular economy benchmark and focused on its application in the business fabric. The previous event was attended by representatives from the European Commission, significant Basque companies such as CIE Automotive, Eroski, Siemens Gamesa, Petronor, Orona, Sidenor, Vicinay Cadenas, Iberdrola, Uvesco, Kutxabank, various clusters, technology centres, and universities.

Next year, the Basque Circular Summit will aim to bring the latest in circular economy and eco-design to the Basque Country so that it can continue to be a European leader in this field and help Basque companies prepare for an imminent and more circular landscape.
