Soraya Prieto

Circularity Area Director at the TECNALIA Research & Innovation Foundation

Soraya has a PhD in Chemistry (2009) from the University of the Basque Country (Spain). She has a Master’s Degree in OHS (Safety, Hygiene, Ergonomics and Psychology) (2009), and a PMP (Project manager professional) certificate (2020). Soraya has extensive experience in developing materials to capture CO2, along with the technology to convert that CO2 into fuels, polymers and chemicals. She developed different technologies to recover and reuse waste, water treatment and the use of alternative raw materials to synthesise new products. She has taken part in and coordinated different European, national and regional research projects related to the above areas. Soraya is the coordinator of the CO2 uses group of the Spanish CO2 technology platform (PTECO2), coordinator of the bioproducts group of the Spanish biomass technology platform (BIOPLAT), and of the European Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC); she is the author and co-author of different publications, patents and papers to international and national conferences.
