PhD in Biology from Barcelona University, CSIC and UPC. After over 30 years working in the field of sustainability management for the public administration, Mireia Cañellas is currently the Natural Capital and Circular Economy Manager of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, where she is in charge of coordinating cross-cutting policies in the circular economy within the Department of Territory, Housing and the Ecological Transition; she has driven initiatives such as the Catalan Circular Economy Roadmap, the Circular Fashion Pact and the Catalan Circular Hub, which is the meeting point of companies and institutions to provide solutions to consolidate the circular economy in Catalonia.
Her current remit is to define and drive policies aimed at increasing and strengthening the engagement of the financial and business sector in conserving biodiversity and the natural heritage, by creating tools to support companies, and economically revitalising natural areas and the rural world.
