Maria Jose has worked for the Regional Ministry for Territory and Sustainability of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia from 1990 to the present. She is currently Head of the Environmental Rating Service of the Environmental Quality and Climate Change General Directorate of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia.
Her main responsibilities and duties are related to the areas of sustainable consumption and production and the circular economy. These specifically include environmental management systems, eco-labelling systems, along with eco-design, green public procurement, environmental taxation and application of the best available techniques regarding the legislation on pollution control and prevention, control of chemical substances and application of the Environmental Responsibility Act.
