Maria Fernández Peral

Business Environmental Management Technician at Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council

Maria graduated in Biology and in Environmental Sciences and has a Master’s Degree in the Circular Economy applied to business from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).

Nineteen years ago, she joined the Economic Development Area of Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council, when she has worked on projects with different productive sectors and advising local companies in areas such as industrial ecology, decarbonisation and the circular economy. Maria manages the line of funding for business circular economy projects and the expert advisory service on the circular economy of the City Council, the Green Deal Business Community, the Laboratory City programme and the sustainable tourist destination management system of the city, and designs the company skills-building activities offered by the City Council in the framework of the Basque Circular Hub of Vitoria-Gasteiz. Maria is also the technician who represents her area on the team drafting Vitoria-Gasteiz’s 2030 Strategy and the Circular Economy Plan 2024-2027.
