PhD in Environmental Technologies from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (International PhD Mention) and postdoctoral research in the Circular Economy at Manchester University (United Kingdom). Joan Manuel Férnandez was a visiting researcher at the Danish Centre for Environmental Assessment (Aalborg, Denmark) and worked at Tecnalia Research and Innovation (Environment and Energy Division) and in the field of environmental consultancy. He is currently an Ikerbasque Research Associate Professor and Director of the Circular Economy and Industrial Sustainability Research Group (ECSI) at the Engineering Faculty of Mondragón University. He is also a member of the International Society for Circular Economy, International Society for Industrial Ecology, Forum for Sustainability through Life Cycle, the Circular Economy Technical Standardisation Committee (CTN-UNE 323), and Future Earth (Circular Economy and the Clean Energy Transition).
