Senior Researcher and Coordinator of the Environment and Energy Lab at Orkestra-Basque Institute of Competitiveness (Deusto Foundation-Deusto University) since 2018.
PhD and a Master’s Degree in Economics (Georgetown University, Washington, DC) and graduated in Economics (Autonomous University of Madrid, UAM).
At Orkestra, Jorge works on research projects to do with energy transition processes, the decarbonisation of the economy and of different sectors, smart grids, taxation of energy and green financing, green employment, sustainability mobility, energy markets, energy efficiency, energy storage, the sustainability of the energy sector and the economy overall, etc.
Before joining Orkestra, Jorge worked for 6 years as the Technical Director at the Iberian Gas Hub (the natural gas hub project for mainland Spain and Portugal). For 8 years, he was Associate Director at Intermoney Energía, a consultancy firm specialising in energy markets, trading energy, risk management, energy modelling and forecasting (demand, prices, etc.). He had previously worked as a consultant at NERA Economic Consulting for 6 years, specialising in energy regulation, risk management, market design and energy tariffs, etc.
Jorge has published book chapters and articles in academic journals and for the energy sector; he has extensive experience as a speaker at conferences and events in the energy sector.
