Macarena Larrea, a researcher at Orkestra, has a PhD in Business Promotion and Development from the UPV. Her research mainly focuses on industrial, climate and energy policies, particularly in Europe, Spain and the Basque Country.
Macarena has been involved in projects that analyse the Spanish and Basque industrial and energy sector in general, energy policy challenges, and issues related to the decarbonisation of the economy and to guaranteeing the supply of raw materials (mainly critical ones and from a geopolitical perspective), in collaboration with different institutions.
She has a Master’s Degree in Port and Maritime Business Management organised by Deusto University in conjunction with the Basque Government’s School of Maritime Administration, and graduated in Business Management and Administration from Deusto University.
Prior to joining Orkestra, Macarena worked at the Chair in International Studies at the UPV and was awarded a Professional Specialisation Grant in the areas of European Affairs and Interregional Cooperation, by the Basque Government’s External Action General Secretariat.
