Marcelo Leslabay has a PhD in Design and Communication from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and graduated in Industrial Design from the National University of La Plata (Buenos Aires).
Since 2012, he has been a professor and researcher at Deusto University, where he has been a driving force behind the current Degree in Industrial Design Engineering and is a member of the Deusto Design Research Group.
Marcelo has headed his Leslabay Design studio, which specialises in curating, designing and organising exhibitions, for over twenty-five years. He has organised over fifty exhibitions and events that have showcased Spanish Design in Europe, the Americas and Asia.
He is a founding member of DiMad (Madrid Designers Association), set up the Ibero-American Design Biennial DiseƱo (BID), and is an active member of Transferencias Design. In 2015, he served as a member of the July for the National Design Awards.
From 2015 to 2020, Marcelo was the Publishing Director of Experimenta, a publisher specialising in Project, Design and Communication Culture, which publishes the magazine of the same name; he had been the founding partner and deputy director between 1992 and 2004.
Since 2020, he has been the Publishing Director of i+Design and Universidad, academic and scientific journals published by Malaga University.
